Green Valley United Methodist Church was founded in 1987. Rev. Jerry Blankinship founded the church which met in a small upstairs meeting room those first two years. Rev. Tom Mattick was appointed as the first full-time pastor in 1989. The church then moved into commercial rental space near Ethel M's Candy Factory.
In 1991, the church moved to its present location at the corner of Robindale Road and Green Valley Parkway. The Multi-purpose "A" Building housed all the church activities at that time.
Rev. Robert Burns became senior pastor in 1995 and Rev. Lee Robison joined the pastoral staff in 1996 - 2004. The following year, 1997, the Education "B" Building was completed and education for all ages moved across the patio lawn.
Pastor Billy Martin served the church from 2002-2005. A Temporary "T" Building was moved onto the property in 2002 to provide space for youth and adult activities. Rev. Susan Brims was appointed the executive pastor in 2005. Rev. Lynn Hamilton has joined the staff as executive pastor.
Construction on the current sanctuary and children's education spaces was completed in May of 2007. The first worship service was held in the new sanctuary on Mother's Day, May 13, 2007.
Together the congregation, pastors and staff strive to serve God by meeting the needs of others through ministry and service.
