Angel Tree is an annual program which allows GVUMC to reach out to families of prisoners. Angel Tree Christmas works by connecting parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. There is so much joy that comes with sharing Christ's love with kids who have a mom or dad in prison.
Prisoners register with Prison Fellowship Ministry who in turn provides the names of the children registered to our church coordinator. The families are contacted by church servants to determine what the child's wish is for one toy item and one clothing item.
The Christmas Tree with the "angel wishes" is available in the church lobby beginning in late November. People from the congregation select an "angel wish" from the tree, purchase and wrap the gift and return the gift to the church in time for delivery. All gifts are $25.00 or less.
Last year GVUMC members provided gifts and other goodies to 93 area children in 34 different homes.
You can be involved with this church-wide project by providing a gift, calling families to determine angel wishes, baking home-made cookies, assembling cookie plates for delivery, providing school supplies and delivering gifts. If you would like to be part of this project, contact our coordintor, Linda Reynolds at linda@gvumc.org.
