Angel Tree

Welcome to another season with Angel Tree Christmas! If you're a first-time volunteer, you'll soon understand our excitement and enthusiasm as we reach out to families of prisoners. Angel Tree Christmas works by connecting parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. There is so much joy that comes with sharing Christ's love with kids who have a mom or dad in prison.

Families register with Prison Fellowship Ministry who in turn provides the names of the children registered to our church coodinator.  This year our Angel Tree families will all come from the Henderson area. The families are contacted by church servants to determine what the child's wish is for one toy item and one clothing item. The Christmas Tree with the "angel wishes" will be available in the church lobby beginning on Sunday, November 23, 2008. People from the congreation select an "angel wish" from the tree, purchase and wrap the gift and return the gift to the church in time for delivery. All gifts are $25.00 or less.

This year we will be delivering gifts, school supplies and home-made cookies on Saturday, December 20, 2008. You can be involved with this church-wide project by providing a gift, calling families to determine angel wishes, baking home-made cookies, assembling cookie plates for delivery (Friday eventing, December 19th), providing school supplies and delivering gifts.  If you would like to be part of this project, contact our coordintor, Linda Reynolds at linda@gvumc.org.
